The Curious Case of Benton Blount

Golden Music folded this week. That's likely unimportant news to you, and while anytime a label shutters its doors I loose track of a few friends, it's ultimately not a game changer for me either.

But it is for Benton Blount.

Benton is North Carolina artist who had a great song called "Carolina" about to be released on Golden. The music team at QDR loved it, but now we wait and hope he finds a new label to release the song. Sure, we could just play it, but it takes a special synergy from a number of country outlets to make a hit. Everyone (including fans) benefits when we work together.

So we'll wait, and cross our fingers and maybe whisper in our record label friend's ears about this kid.

The little guy is easy root for, but sometimes he's difficult to rely on. Over the past three years a half dozen labels have launched, and many of those quickly closed. Sadly, that leaves a bad taste in the mouth of music directors who want to take a chance on a new artist, but don't want to fall prey to a greedy investor looking to make a quick buck.

No matter what level of the music tower you live on, one truth persists: There's no such thing as a quick buck.

I happened to come across your blog and wanted to simply say thanks! It has been an interesting road so far and I can only hope its far from over! I love music and I love people which makes for a perfect fit in this industry. Regardless of the outcome, I am blessed beyond words to have had the chances already to chase my dreams. They are things I will NEVER forget.
My country career so far has consisted of a radio tour. No single released.....No major tour.....No big hype. Just my life, my songs, my guitar, and a few sets of ears. If it gets any better than this, I am in for the time of my life....and its all because you took the time! THANK YOU and See you soon,

BB

Let's hope that the music row execs will see what a jewel that Benton is and his drive and determination to succeed. It's not always about the money, it's about the music that comes from the heart. J9

To everyone who knows Benton Blount he is by no means a quiter at anything! Benton is an inspriation to all he comes in contact with young or old. This wonderful man has carried God with him throughout his journey. His faith has kept him going strong, and succeeding to fulfill his dream of being a "crunk singer." It only takes one lable to sign him and believe in this man. I would sign him in a heartbeat if I was in the business. So to the one who does sign Benton Blount: God bless b/c you have a STAR on your label now! Benton Blount is one of a kind and he will succeed in his dream! You record lables in Nashville better snatch Benton up before someone else gets this great singer! God bless Benton we are here rooting for you in Morganton, NC! Your fan club has risen into the thousands, so don't let this one thing get you down! You will succeed in your dreams! I am very proud to know this wonderful man as well as my daughters. By the way they say HELLO! Keep your faith and continue your dream! Susie W.
