Ten frequently heard comments concerning Nick's training for the Ride without Limits... and responses.
Number ten: You're crazy!
Yes I am. A little bit.
Number nine: You bike 100 miles? Like with pedals?
Yep. Powered by my own two legs and occasionally a tail wind.
Number eight: Do you wear those tight shorts?
Hell yeah! You wouldn't join a baseball team wearing cargo pants would you? Gotta' dress like I belong.
Number seven: How do you pee?
I stop, find a bathroom or bush and go.
Number six: I could never do that.
Yes you could. “Impossible is not an option” is one of Easter Seals UCP's slogans. You might not be able to do it tomorrow, but you make a little progress each day.
Number five: Where do you bike?
Mostly in Wake County, but also in Franklin and Johnson Counties. I rode to Virginia on Labor Day.
Number four: I'd be afraid of cars.
That's like not camping because you're afraid of trees. I follow my rules and hope they follow theirs. It's worked out pretty well so far.
Number three: I get tired driving 100 miles.
I hope you don't drive up on an cyclists. Try a cup of coffee, or open a window.
Number two: How can I help?
Your donation would be very appreciated. Click here: http://www.ridewithoutlimits.org/site/TR/2009Ride/General?pg=team&fr_id=1160&team_id=2690
If that doesn't work go to www.ridewithoutlimits.org and find the Curtis Media team under “Donate.”
Number one: Doesn't your butt hurt?
It does sometimes, but you get used to it (no smart comments please).
