Someone done ticked off Billy Ray Cyrus

Billy Ray Cyrus walked out of a radio interview this morning after the host asked about his divorce. "That's Rude," he was heard saying off mic as he left.

He's right.

But not because the host asked about this sensitive issue. Billy has lived his life in the public spotlight, and in a TMZ world all's fair in publicity. Country radio works a little differently though. We still protect our stars to some extent... celebrating their highlights and ignoring their less admirable moments.

The host had to bring it up, although it's likely he was asked not to by BYC's publicist. The "polite" thing to do would be say "we've been asked not to talk about your marriage, and we'll respect that," and then ask a question that is of similar purpose.

"Billy, how do you get through difficult moments in your life?"

"Billy, Is it possible to keep your personal life personal, especially with the paparazzi so interested in your daughter?"

Everyone wins this way, and Billy doesn't storm out of your studio.

This interviewer got a whole lot of publicity for treating Billy like Britney Spears, but that's not the kind of press I'd want.
